Hello fellow music supervisors and associates! We’re glad that you’re here – your initiative shows that you’re a willing participant ready to assist in our efforts to move our professional community and creative work forward.

Please fill out a submission form to accompany each nomination submission for the 13th Annual Guild of Music Supervisors Awards. The submission form will be used to assist the Advertising Craft Committee in its efforts to evaluate a preliminary round of submissions. A list of nominations will be determined for each category – and each category will subsequently be voted upon by guild members.

Your participation in this year’s nomination process ensures that all submissions are considered thoroughly, vetted fairly, and presented to committee members in a way that will help them to better understand your scope of work. The 13th Annual GMS Awards will be held on Sunday, March 5th, 2023.

Entries will be accepted within three (3) advertising categories, shown below:

Best Music Supervision in Advertising - Synch:
Awarded for innovation in the creative use of licensed, existing music in the context of an advertisement or other branded visual media. Entries submitted within this category should be no longer than :90 in length.

Best Music Supervision in Advertising - Original Music:
Awarded for excellence in the creation of  original music within an advertisement. Submissions can include covers of existing compositions or original material. Entries submitted within this category should be no longer than :90 in length.

Best Music Supervision in Advertising - $500K Total Production & Post-Production Budget

Awarded for excellence in the creation of original or synced music within an advertisement. Submissions can include existing music as well as covers of existing compositions or original material. The total production & post-production budget for submissions in this category must be less than or equal to $500,000. Entries submitted within this category should be no longer than :90 in length.


Nominations should ONLY go to the music supervisor(s) responsible for the creative placement and oversight of the sync or composition. 

All advertising categories include ads for entertainment products (such as a Nintendo or other video game system) but EXCLUDE trailers, promos, and marketing media for individual entertainment properties (such as a specific video game). These type of projects should be submitted under the "TRAILER" category).


You are not required to be a member of the Guild in order to submit an entry.


  • SUBMISSION LIMIT: Music Supervisors, Music Departments, or Music Houses/Companies are allowed to submit a maximum of three (3) entries within each category.
  • ELIGIBILITY TIMELINE:  All submissions must be released within the 2022 calendar year.
  • DEADLINE: Submissions are free before 11/30. Projects submitted after 11/30 are $25 per submission. Please fill out one questionnaire to accompany each nomination submission for the 13th Annual Guild Of Music Supervisors Awards. This award is for songs/recordings (original or imaginative covers) created for film projects (including documentaries) released both theatrically and non-theatrically in the US during 2022. The questionnaire will be used to assist the nomination committee in evaluating submissions to determine the final set of nominated songs/recordings. GMS members will evaluate the final nominations as used in the films and vote in early 2023. 

The 13th Annual GMS Awards will be held, Sunday, March 5th, 2023.

  • CRITICAL MATERIALS NEEDED: It is important that we receive a link to download/stream or a file upload of your song/recording. It is also strongly advised that you provide a link to stream video/file upload that shows the use(s) of the song in the film. Please be sure streaming links remain active until the GMS Awards date. Please ask your film distributor for assistance in providing the committee these critical materials. Our awards event garnered over 160 Million internet news impressions last year and the film distributors are more interested than ever in helping your song get a nomination. 
  • ELIGIBILITY DATES: for film projects (including documentaries) released theatrically in the US during the calendar year of 2022.

This award category is for original songs and/or recordings (including imaginative covers) CREATED SPECIFICALLY for the qualifying television series/project. Songs/Recordings that were created specifically for a documentary film that was initially released on television will qualify for this category. The questionnaire will be used to assist the committee in evaluating submissions to determine the final set of nominated songs/recordings. Guild members will evaluate the final nominations and vote in early 2023. The 13th Annual GMS Awards will be held Sunday, March 5th, 2023.

The Guild of Music Supervisors understands and defends that the quality of a Music Supervisor is not solely measured by the amount of songs in a project, but by a host of music services provided that together impact a program and its audience.   • ELIGIBILITY DATES: All submissions must have had over 50% of the nominated season air within the established eligibility period: September 1, 2021 through October 31, 2022.
  • CRITICAL MATERIALS NEEDED: It is vital that we receive the requested audio/visual assets to accompany the content of your submission. Submissions WILL NOT be considered without them.
  • DEADLINE: Submissions are free before 11/30. Projects submitted after 11/30 are $25 per submission.     It is strongly suggested that you provide a publicly streamable link to the song and the project when possible for voting purposes.
  • ELIGIBILITY PERIOD: feature length documentary films released between January 1, 2022 and December 31, 2022 as a public/commercial release
  • DEADLINE: Submissions are free before 11/30. Projects submitted after 11/30 are $25 per submission. All music must be cleared with a final cue sheet readily available and proof of fully executed licenses available if the committee requests to see documentation. Please note that independent postings on Vimeo and YouTube do not qualify.
